Whitewash

The annual hike and bonfire continued until the student body created a 140 foot high W on the mountain using rocks whitewashed with limestone in 1966. In 1967, more than 20 tons of additional rock were hauled 200 yards to form the S representing the new name, Weber State. The stone laying project took several work parties to complete the task over the two-year period. Lights were then strung along the outline of the W and lit for Homecoming Week.
