Through the Years

Juneteenth Celebration at the Bell Tower, 2021

The Bell Tower has become the heart of campus throughout the years. The Bell Tower plaza has seen heartbreaking events such as the World AIDS Awareness Day candlelight vigil, the 9/11 candlelight vigil, and various other demonstrations from on and off-campus groups. There have also been events of joy and community through various jubilations from new celebrations like Juneteenth, that started being held at Weber in 2013; to old traditions like the Homecoming night True Wildcat kiss, started in 1997. Various other events held at Bell Tower plaza include the Davis Torch Run (which was held to kick off the groundbreaking for the Davis Campus), block party, campus races, and other student favorite events such as food truck rallies. In 2021, the Bell Tower celebrates its 50th anniversary. As Weber State University continues to grow and expand, the Stewart Bell Tower will continue to be at the heart of campus and a symbol of the university and its mission.
