Overview
For 100 years, Weber State has embraced the spirit of exploration and adventure by embarking on a yearly hike up to the top of Mt. Ogden. Looming over campus at 9,579 feet, the hike to the peak of the mountain has always been a challenging endeavor. But year after year the students, faculty, staff, and community members from Weber State have returned to the mountain peak to celebrate the beginning of another school year. This exhibit commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Mt. Ogden hike, from its beginning in 1922 to 2022.
Land Acknowledgement
Before we dive into the history of Weber State's involvement with Mt. Ogden, we want to acknowledge the Goshute and Shoshone people as being the original and current caretakers of the land that includes Mount Ogden and the Weber State University main campus. We acknowledge the Goshute and Shoshone people's past and current contributions to caring for this land. Because of their continuous stewardship of this beautiful land, we are able to gather and play upon it. As we use this land we commit to learning about the history of this land, the peoples that came before us, and to leave no trace.
