Ada C. Theurer Lindquist

Ada married Charles Lindquist in 1915. She started a Keister’s
Tailoring College in Ogden which she ran with her sisters.
She was employed by Lindquist and Sons Mortuary for 40
years and served as Vice President. She was also president
of the Lindquist Investment Company, which included
ownership of the Lynada Motel in Ogden. She served in many
organizations including the Soroptimist Club, Children’s Aid
Society and the Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Telitha E. Lindquist

Telitha was born in Ogden to Telitha Browning and John Ellis. At
the age of 7, her family moved to England where Tita attended
school until the aggression in Europe. In 1943, she married John
A. Lindquist during his service leave. She was involved with
the arts including amateur acting, piano and organ and being a
patron of local artists. She was president of the Ogden Symphony
Ballet Association, Utah Musical Theater Board, Ogden Ladies
Literary Club and Ogden Drama Club. The family have been
great supporters of Weber State University as well.

Belle London

Dora Topham was better known as Belle London, a madam
who ran most of the girls in town. In the early 1900s, she was
said to have complete control over Ogden, running both the
police and politics. She declared herself the greatest woman
reformer in the world and was a philanthropist by doing
more for the poor degraded womanhood than anyone else. She
eventually left Ogden and died by accident in San Francisco
in 1925.

Martha Society / Junior League

The Martha Society, started by Martha Brown Cannon, brought
together a group of Ogden’s prominent women interested in
charitable work. The first big act was the opening of the Martha
Home in 1913. The home was a day nursery where mothers
who were working could leave their children. From 1934 to
1953, the name was change to the Welfare League where they
took active roles in the Community Chest Dental Clinic, the
Dee Hospital Tumor Clinic, the Public Health Nurse Program,
and the Immunization Clinic. The league is still active as the
Junior League of Ogden.

F. Ann Millner

Millner began working at Weber State College in 1982 as
the Associate Dean of Continuing Education and teaching
in the Allied Health Department. In 2002, she became
the 11th president of Weber State University, becoming the
first female president of an institution of higher education
in Utah. During her time as president, she lead Weber in
several revitalization efforts, including the opening of the
Davis Campus. She stepped down as president in 2012 and
was elected as a Senator for the Utah State Senate in 2014.
