Stadium History
The Weber College football stadium was dedicated on September 18, 1953, at the Harrison campus. Prior to having their own stadium the team played at Lorin Farr Park, Ogden Stadium, and Affleck Park. When dedicated, the stadium had permanent and metal bleachers to seat 3,700 people and a press box. The east bleachers were expanded in 1965 to increase the seating to 10,000. In 1966 permanent bleachers were built on the west side of the stadium. This addition included a new press box, locker rooms, training room, athletic offices, and increased the seating to over 17,000.
The Wildcat Stadium was renamed the Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium on June 11, 1997, after the Stewart Foundation donated $4.2 million to build a sky box suite expansion. The Sky Box Suites opened in September 2001, which included a new press box, 25 box suites, club seating, a president’s box, concession facilities, and a lobby. In Fall 2019, the athletic complex was dedicated on the north side of the stadium. The new complex includes the Barbara and Rory Youngberg Football Center, the Sark’s Boys Gateway, the Stromberg Strength and Conditioning Complex, the Marquardt-Kimball Plaza, and the Behnken Plaza.
In the past, the stadium has been used for assemblies, commencement, intramurals, and concerts. Throughout the years the stadium has updated the lighting, scoreboards, and grass to turf.
