Still Untamed: Modern Ogden
Since the 1970s, Ogden has experienced a rebirth of growth in industry, population and tourism. With the last of the passenger trains running through town, Ogden had to adapt and move beyond railroad traffic. The city reinvested in the downtown area by restoring buildings on 25th Street and making it a shopping destination for locals and tourists. The city has created events and festivals such as the Farmer’s Market Ogden, Ogden Pride, First Friday Art Strolls and Ogden Twilight.
The city has become a recreational destination with yearlong access to activities in the mountains and surrounding areas. Ogden has become known for skiing at Snowbasin and Powder Mountain, ice climbing in the canyon, as well as mountain biking and hiking along numerous miles of scenic trails.
The beauty of the city has captured the attention of Hollywood, with films and television shows being filmed around town. Ogden can be seen in “Yellowstone,” “3 o’clock High,” “The Sandlot” and numerous Hallmark Channel movies.
Ogden has continued to reinvent itself but never strays far from its history. Ogden will continue to remain “untamed.”
